Impressed Current Cathodic Protection for South Gas Company
Customer Benefits
- Customer required Cathodic Protection for a number of systems including Shipping Terminal Berths, Small Craft Jetty, Water Intake System, Sheet Steel Piling Wall, Fire Extinguishing System, and External Pipeline
- Performed advanced analysis of protected structures and state of existing insulation, ultrasonic thickness measurements, water analysis, soil resistivity and composition measurements, metal analysis, including use of divers
- Assess Feasibility of project using data from above analysis, based on reliability and cost effectiveness. In this case project went ahead
- Much of existing protection was in poor state of repair and ineffective, requiring considerable remedial work, before implementing Cathodic Protection
- Impressed Current Cathodic Protection was implemented, providing corrosion protection for: Main Shipping Terminal Berths 1&2, Small Craft Jetty (5 platforms and 2 walkways), Sheet Steel Piling Wall, Water Intake System, Fire Extinguishing System, and External Pipeline
- Maintenance schedule and repair schedule drawn up
